About
Welcome to ivarzantinge.com, the personal website of Ivar Zantinge. Below you’ll find an overview of the most frequently asked questions.
IVARZANTINGE.COM
What kind of website is this?
This blog social media content aggregator represents the Zeitgeist filtered by me. It’s my personal scribbling-pad and a place to dump observations from my off- and online life.
What are all these pages? Please help!
This website has a pretty self-explanatory structure, IMHO. Besides the frontpage, there is the underlying (about) page which provides you with the background of this blog social media content aggregator and its author. That’s it really!
Kapow! Wam! Sok! Your site looks crappy!
That’s probably because your browser does not comply with web standards OR because this site does not validate (XHTML and CSS). Anyway, this site looks brilliant in Firefox, which you should be using anyway.
What are those funny illegible scribblings in your archives?
It’s called Dutch. It’s a West Germanic language spoken by around 22 million people, mainly in the Netherlands and Belgium. I used to write in my native language on the zantinge.org domain. However, with the launch of ivarzantinge.com in 2006, I have decided to write both in English and Dutch from that moment on. I imported all those old Dutch posts on this website for the sake of having a coherent online archive of the things I have blogged in the past. Please forgive me in advance for all my English grammatical and linguistic mistakes, as it is not my native language.

Who is that guy Ivar? Where does he live? What does he eat?
I was born in 1973 in Leiderdorp, Kingdom of The Netherlands. I grew up in Katwijk, a coastal town in the west of The Netherlands. I studied Media & Journalism at the University of Utrecht and Public Management at the University of The Hague. I live the good life in Zuiderwoude, a very small rural town near Amsterdam with my dream girl (the lovely miss Danielle) in my dream pad. Ivar is a Norwegian name and it means something like ‘warrior with a wooden bow‘ (sic!).

I love the all good stuff life has to offer. I’m a sucker for well-designed stuff, coffee and Asian & Italian food. I don’t do butter, mussels, crayfish, mushrooms and other fungi. The Economist is my favorite read. I know the world would be a better place without (the music of) Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Lord of the Dance.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a business development geek with over 11 years of international (executive) experience in the telecommunications and Internet industry. Currently I’m working for TomTom, a leading provider of personal navigation products and services world-wide. For other work-related stuff, please visit my online resume at LinkedIn.
What do you do for fun?
I have played the bass since I was sixteen. A few years ago I founded the Rare Groove Orchestra (RGO). RGO plays its very own special blend of Hammond Funk.
I love to travel with my girlfriend Daniëlle. We have seen quite some places together. My favorite cities are Copenhagen, New York City, Sydney, Los Angeles and Rome. My favorite countries are Australia and The Netherlands. Although I wouldn’t say the US is my favorite country, I just love California!
What kind of music are you into?
I have an extremely eclectic style, ranging from jazz, funk and soul to indie, garage rock and classical music. Now and then, I’ll write a little about the stuff I’m spinning.
I think I love you. Can we meet up?
No can do. Next question.
If we can’t meet, at least can I buy you a gift?
Now there’s a great idea! If you want to buy me a gift, please check out my Amazon Wish List. Thanks!
