Quite literally Gordon Gekko (played by an Oscar-winning Michael Douglas) portrays what has led to the current financial crisis: the Greed is Good theory. The scene is from one of my all time favourite films: Wall Street by Oliver Stone.
American Rhetoric has a good list of (American) movie speeches -with audio and video footage. Al Pacino’s speech in Scent of a Woman is not on the list, that’s a serious omission. My personal favorite is the ‘Greed is Good’ speech by Michael Douglas in Wall Street.
‘Greed is Good’-speech, Michael Douglas, Wall Street (1987)
‘Crock of Shit’-speech, Al Pacino, Scent of a Woman (1992)
